The Tale of the Lost Phone:

I lost my phone again, but I found it just now.  I had it in my pants pocket, but I was getting hot from cleaning so I took it out and changed into shorts.  I realized I didn't have pockets in my shorts so I did something with the phone, only thing is I didn't remember what.  So I spent a good 10 minutes searching for it from the 2nd floor to the basement.

Found it in my room under some towels and sheets I brought up after doing laundry earlier this afternoon.  And so I have an alarm clock to wake me up for school tomorrow and something to take down my parking space number at the swift. ( I have the worst memory I say the parking # in my head while I walk to the station, but as soon as I get there I forget it)

The End.

Wednesday,

is the longest day of the week, but today it wasn't tooo bad.  Class at 9 left early to eat lunch, then caught a couple of trains and then bused it over to Electrical Audio...took forever to get there.  The trip was definitely worth it though.

I walked up to where the building was supposed to be, and my mind went "where is this place?" This is the Building.  Of course the building wouldn't be flashy cause why advertise that there's insanely expensive equipment there, but I didn't think that was the building.  I called, was buzzed in, and was told to walk up to the top of the stairwell which was like an apartment.  I open the door at the top and there was this small kitchen in front of me.  I probably should have thought, is this someone's apartment? but I ended up walking right in.  The top floor was an apartment of sorts, loads of bedrooms, pool table, stacks and stacks of movies and music, kitchens, etc.  Pretty much a place for the bands to crash before, between, after recording.

The first floor and basement was where all the fun was.  Oh quick history lesson:  Steve Albini founded/owns Electrical Audio.  This dude is one heck of a recording engineer though Sickle says he doesn't like being called that and just wants to be a regular dude who helps bands with their music...etc. etc.  Albini recorded for Nirvana, Cheap Trick (the dudes who did the cover 'In the Street' for that 70s show,) the Pixies, Jimmy Page and Robert Plant, and a whole list of other people.

Unfortunately, Albini was in a recording session in studio B so he couldn't show us (Sickle and like 12 of us) around, like Sickle said he would, so instead Greg the second top guy who makes all the cool recording equipment that they need, showed us.  Since Albini was in studio B we couldn't see it either, so sad and Apparently the microphone collection stored in Studio B is A-Mazing, for the love of microphones, that's a huuuge and expensive collection, A-Mazing.

Some pictures from their site [Electrical Audio] since I left my backpack with the camera in the apartment area:

Studio A - Control Room:
If I took a picture it would look exactly the same cause I was sitting on the couch (it was quite comfy.)  The window looks into the 'Kentucky' room and you can see the Live room (not living room.)

No picture for the Studio A Live room because it's big.  There wasn't too much in it, just a piano, a hammond organ, cables, oooh, but there was rack of electric guitars.  Greg said someone Albini recorded made him a custom 16 string electric, all in A, hah.

Studio B's Control Room is on the Second Floor, while part of the Live room and dead room (band equipment, etc. temporarily stored there, etc.) can be seen below:

Studio B - Control Room

So my day was fun, cold, long, but fun. This might be the first and last time I'm in a professional recording studio, unless: I get a band together and go record somewhere; open my own recording studio; or get hired somewhere....but recording isn't my kinda thing, maybe...I'm probably taking a recording class next semester to fill up on some hours...speaking of which I'm not sure how I feel about my schedule:

Monday:
1230-320p   Advanced Sound Reinforcement
600-950p     Sound for the Theater

Wednesday:
1230-320p   Introduction to Psychoacoustics
600-950p     Recording I

Friday:
100-150p     Careers in Audio

Good part is I don't have to wake up early.  Bad part is I get home around 11 if not later.....does the swift even run that late?  Gonna need a plan if I get stranded at Howard after 11, who wants to come pick me up?!

I technically don't need those two late classes, but I'm sorta stuck on what classes are open (3rd day of registration and all the classes I need/want are closed).  I can only take on major class since it's  prerequisite for the others, so I'm stuck taking intro classes as electives, but I'd like to take those 2 night classes, but they're so stinking late.

Oh well, will talk to the advisor for the first time and see what he says...graduation...postponed probably for another year...I hate credit hours....tuition also bites...maybe I should drop out and get a full time job at the library...hahaha.

One of the patrons

at the library called me weird....I am weird and proud of it!

Another kid told me I was old...sometimes I feel old, but I'm only 23, and in numbers that's young!  I'm young in numbers and old at heart (sorta) and proud of it!

This is a sad

sad day.  On top of a midterm in a couple hours....my ipod just died.  My poor mini just...well its not dead.  I have this stupid folder with an exclamation next to it on my screen.  It told me to go to the apple support.  What do you know they have a specific support for this problem, but they want to charge me about 40 bucks to discuss whats wrong.  I hope if I drain the batteries it will fix itself, but if not.....

So if you know how to fix it let me know.  I'll be the happiest person in this room...though I'm the only person in this room...yeah..

Midterms are

lots of fun.  First one tomorrow and the rest on Wednesday.  Took a shot of my desk because..I need to 'take a break' from studying.  It's all for my Live Sound Reinforcement class and the dumb part is, half of the material on the midterm we weren't even taught in class, according to my teacher.  His suggestion: "look in the book."  Has he even seen our book?  It's not a class book, more like a book for everything related to Sound..ish book.  1 thing, it is an awesome book because it tells you a lot of things you need to know, but the 2nd thing, it has no information I need to know for my midterm.  3rd thing it has sooo much information that it took me awhile to narrow down the chapters that might be related to what I need to know.  Anyway:

Some reference papers and equation papers.  More are behind me on the bench, but I won't need them till later, I think.

One more picture for the road:

Michael and Melissa's pup, Lady Jane, came over for a sleepover a little while ago.  She really wanted to play with Tracy's bunny, 'Teddy', pretty amusing.

Back to studying.
